Booking types (Instant vs Scheduled)

Instant Booking

  • Best when you want an appointment soon.
  • Includes a small rush fee (shown before you confirm)
  • Uses a 50% deposit (based on the service total)
  • Providers typically have a short acceptance window
  • If a request is very close to the start time, it may be treated as “instant” automatically so expectations stay realistic

Scheduled Booking

  • Best when you’re planning ahead.
  • Pick a date/time from available slots
  • Uses a 20% deposit
  • Providers may have a longer acceptance window (especially for future appointments)

Payments, deposits, and what gets charged (plain English)

What you do at request time

When you confirm a booking request, you authorize payment in-app so the time can be reserved and the provider knows you’re serious.

When you’re actually charged

  • If the provider declines, rejects, or never accepts: you won’t be charged.
  • If the provider accepts: your booking is confirmed.
  • After the appointment is completed: the full amount is charged (your deposit is part of that total).

Provider earnings (platform fee)

For providers, Crown takes an 8% platform fee from the booking total. The rest goes to the provider (paid out through Stripe Express). You’ll always see pricing clearly in-app before confirming.

If you cancel

If a provider has already accepted your booking:

  • Cancel within the grace window: you pay only the deposit, and the rest is not charged.
  • Cancel after the grace window: you will be charged the full booking amount.

If the provider cancels: you’re not charged.

Location + privacy

Crown is built to protect privacy by default:

  • Provider profiles show a coarse/general area publicly (not a precise address).
  • Your booking shows the provider’s exact location + directions only after the booking is accepted (and while it’s active).
  • Private location details are stored separately from public profile info.

Trust & safety

  • Provider profiles are reviewed before being fully approved and bookable.
  • In-app tools let users report issues (bug reports) or report providers quickly.
  • Reviews can be left only after a completed appointment, helping keep feedback legitimate.

FAQ

What is Crown?

Crown is a booking and payments platform that connects clients with independent beauty professionals.

Are providers employees of Crown?

No—providers are independent professionals. Crown helps with discovery, scheduling, payment handling, and safety tools.

What’s the difference between Instant and Scheduled?

Instant is for near-term availability (often includes a rush fee and higher deposit). Scheduled is for picking a future time slot with a smaller deposit.

Why do I have to pay a deposit?

The deposit reserves time, reduces no-shows, and makes it easier for providers to confidently accept requests.

How much is the deposit?

  • Instant: 50%
  • Scheduled: 20%

You’ll see the exact amount before confirming.

When is the rest of my payment charged?

After the appointment is completed.

What if the provider doesn’t respond?

Requests have an acceptance countdown. If it expires or is declined, you won’t be charged—just try a different time/provider.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

You can cancel. If the booking is already accepted, cancellation charges depend on the grace window (deposit vs full). Rescheduling is usually best handled by canceling and rebooking the correct time.

What happens if the provider cancels?

You won’t be charged.

When do I see the exact address?

Only after the provider accepts your booking (and while it’s active). Before that, you’ll only see a general area.

Can I leave a review without booking?

No—reviews are only allowed after a completed appointment.

How do providers get paid?

Providers connect payout info (Stripe Express). Payout eligibility requires setup completion and approval.

I’m a provider—why am I not showing up yet?

Providers must finish profile details, complete payout setup, and pass approval before appearing live.

How do I report a problem?

Use the in-app report options to submit a bug report or report a provider. It takes ~30 seconds.
